This course is the introductory training opportunity for those seeking to become Lead Referee Instructors authorized to lead the U-8 Official Course, the Assistant Referee Course, the Basic Referee Course and the Intermediate Referee Course. It's actually two courses in one, since it also includes the Introduction to Instruction (ITI) component that is necessary for certification.

This is one of the most important courses within AYSO. We've come to learn that it takes more than good officiating skills to effectively pass along that same knowledge to others. Sometimes the best referee in the Region is not the most effective person to train new referees. Attending this course will enable you to learn to identify the most important pieces of knowledge to be communicated to your students (we call these the Must Knows).

You will also learn practical and effective methods to impart this knowledge to your students from some of the very best instructors in the country. Many of the instructors in this course learned and refined their craft from Ken Aston himself. They take great care in providing a non-threatening environment that is conducive to learning, and practicing these skills before going out into the real world. The camaraderie and sharing with other referees and instructor candidates further enhance the experience inherent in this course.

The course dates/times are subject to change. If they do change, this website will be promptly updated and each registrant will be notified of the change. Registration Fee includes room (2 nights on a double occupancy basis), meals (from lunch on Friday through lunch on Sunday), a camp T-shirt (not guaranteed for late registrants) and course materials.

The registration fee and the signed waiver of liability form are requested prior to the deadline date above in the Quick Facts, although these items will be accepted after the registration deadline subject to available space and an additional late fee charge. The cancellation fee will be charged for any cancellation received within one week of the camp. It is permissible for Regions to pay all or part of the fee on behalf of referees attending training camps. We encourage Regions to participate in this way!

No refund will be issued if cancellation notice is not received.
