Prerequisites:
There are no prerequisites to attend this course, but it is STRONGLY recommended that the following circumstances exist prior to attending this course:
- At least one year as a fully certified Referee Assessor
- Performed a minimum of 5 observations, and 5 assessments on Intermediate Referees seeking upgrade to Advanced Referee
Please Note: We are unable to accept Youth Referees for these courses. All referees must be 18 years old and older in order to attend any of the Ken Aston Soccer Referee Camps.
This course meets the training requirements to become a National Referee Assessor. Existing Referee Assessors learn the psychology of interacting with and assessing the ability of experienced referees who are being evaluated for the National Referee grade level, to control U-16 and U-19 matches. Those who successfully complete this course and the other certification requirements may perform properly authorized assessments for National Referee badge level upgrades as well as those they are currently authorized to perform.
The individual that evaluates a referee for the top-level officiating certification in AYSO is oftentimes faced with a challenging but very rewarding task. The judgments and mentoring skills required of the assessor at this level take on a different tone as two very experienced and professional individuals exchange views on a match.
The referee seeking to upgrade to the National badge needs an assessor that can refine and sharpen the referee's officiating skills to the level of professionalism that is expected at this advanced stage of his development. His assessor must be able to establish the appropriate atmosphere of partnership so he can communicate a clear vision of the highest standards of proficiency and personal behavior that are required. Through interaction with other National referees, high level instructors, and experienced assessors, this course provides the training and guidance to help existing Referee Assessors accomplish these responsibilities with confidence.
The course dates/times are subject to change. If they do change, this website will be promptly updated and each registrant will be notified of the change. Registration Fee includes room (1 night on a double occupancy basis), meals (from lunch on Saturday through lunch on Sunday), a camp T-shirt (not guaranteed for late registrants) and course materials.
The registration fee and the signed waiver of liability form are requested prior to the deadline date above in the Quick Facts, although these items will be accepted after the registration deadline subject to available space and an additional late fee charge. The cancellation fee will be charged for any cancellation received within one week of the camp. It is permissible for Regions to pay all or part of the fee on behalf of referees attending training camps. We encourage Regions to participate in this way!
No refund will be issued if cancellation notice is not received.
